Are you interested in a creative approach to therapy? I am a Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) practitioner and mandala facilitator working with people with stress and trauma, and have many years experience as a qualified music therapist working in the field of mental health.
I work from a psychodynamic and humanistic perspective; GIM is a gentle and creative process in which you are supported to connect with and develop, neglected aspects of the self. The music is chosen to help you explore issues that may be affecting you, to help you find new perspectives on life, and build inner resilience.
Helen Bonny, who developed the process suggests: "Music, as a structured envelope of sound, is probably the most effective and safe opener to the doors of the psyche. It reaches beyond personal defences to the realities and beauties of the person. Music gives access to the discovery of inner strength, uncovers the potential for creativity, and manifests ways in which life can be lived from a centre of inner security."
